The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center’s manuscript and archival collections primarily consist of personal papers of Soldiers who served throughout U.S. Army history. Their letters, diaries, and memoirs are preserved for future generations and are accessible for historical research. The personal writings of enlisted men, junior officers, and general officers, including some official documents, are among the materials found in our holdings.

We will be adding more digitized manuscripts from our collections, which will be seen in ever increasing numbers. With such immense and diverse manuscript holdings, it will be many years before a sizeable portion will be available online. However, researchers are welcome to visit us to view our collections or to SUBMIT AN INQUIRY.
